Historical Background of Kaligram Pargana
A pargana was a historical revenue unit consisting of multiple villages. In 1830, Dwarkanath Tagore, grandfather of Rabindranath Tagore, acquired the Kaligram Pargana. Patisar served as its administrative center, covering about 600 villages across Naogaon, Bogura, and Natore districts.
Rabindranath Tagore became responsible for Kaligram Pargana when property divisions were made within the Tagore family. He devoted significant attention to its development, welfare, and modernization.
